As a Michael Jackson movie, this movie is not as deep or too short cause Michael Jackson is a larger-than-life person with a lot of problems, but at the same time is still a fun movie. I get there’s a lot of controversy and reshoot but at least keep the lowest point of Michael it will be good but, to say the least Michael is still a fun movie and the direction from Antoine Fuqua hasn proven that he is a versatile director who can direct an action movie like The Equalizer and Olympus Has Fallen or a gritty drama movie like Southpaw and Jaafar Jackson performances is awesome. It just the shame that the movie feels generic, messy, and too safe.

My rating: C+

2. Free Willy

Dir: Simon Wincer
Prod: Lauren Shuler Donner
Writ: Keith Walker, Corey Belchman
Cast: Jason James Richter, Lori Petty, Jayne Atkinson, Michael Madsen, Michael Ironside

I actually watched it again cause if I vividly remember, this is the first time I discovered “Human Nature” in the end credits of this movie, and yup, it’s true. So Free Willy is a cute movie about a friendship between a boy and an orca. It’s actually pretty great. The acting of Michael Madsen works, and everyone in this movie works. The direction is great, the cinematography is majestic for a family movie, two Michael Jackson songs in the credits work, and the story itself is simple but has depth and emotion about the environment, which is way ahead of its time. It just the script still a little bit cliché and some of the pacing can be slow for younger viewers. I still love this movie, and it’s a fun one!
